Huntersville, NC, August, 2016: Max Daetwyler Corporation is providing international experience for apprentices based in the USA as well as apprentices based at our worldwide headquarters in Bleienbach, Switzerland.
Each year, Daetwyler offers the opportunity for apprentices from our Swiss headquarters to come to the United States and apprentices from our U.S. headquarters to go to Switzerland as part of their continuing education. This cross-cultural training has been a huge success. Not only do the apprentices gain valuable working knowledge in a different country, they also gain valuable experiences living and interacting with people from a different culture.
The three apprentices from Switzerland who are working at the Daetwyler USA Headquarters in the Huntersville, NC are Beatrice Zürcher, a 22 year old 3rd year apprentice studying Engineering; Reto Althaus, an 18 year old 2nd year apprentice studying Mechanical Technology; and Leoni Roth, an 18 year old 2nd year apprentice studying business administration. They will be working in the U.S. through October 7th and then will return to Switzerland to continue their education.
Two apprentices from Daetwyler USA have also spent time in Switzerland furthering their education. Chris Stone, a 4th year apprentice, who is graduating this month with a degree in mechatronics field service, recently returned from Switzerland; and Cody Story, a 3rd year apprentice studying mechatronic field service, is currently in Switzerland.
The Apprenticeship 2000 program began in the U.S. in 1996. It is a 4-year technical training program that recruits from local area high schools and provides opportunities to train for exciting career opportunities. Each graduate is awarded an AAS degree in Manufacturing Technology and Apprenticeship Certification from NCDOL. Upon graduation, each individual is certified as a Tool and Die Maker, Electronics Technician, CNC Machinist, Machine Technician, Mold/Plastics Technician, or Welding Fabricator.
