ABOUT

Novant Health, the leading healthcare provider in the Lake Norman area, has been invested in Lake Norman Economic Development for over a decade. With 15 hospitals and more than 350 physician practices offering advanced medical treatments in North Carolina, South Carolina and Virginia, Novant is deeply embedded in its communities.

Katrina King, Chief Nursing Officer for Novant Health, works out of the Novant Health Huntersville Medical Center location and has served on the Lake Norman Economic Development board for three years. She is also the LNED upcoming board chair for FY19 – 20.

“I love knowing what is going on in our community from an economic perspective,” said King. “Coming from solely a healthcare background, being involved in Lake Norman Economic Development has been very educational for me from an economic, government relations and legislative perspective.”

King’s passion for leadership is what led her to the position that she is in today. With roughly 500 people on her team, including a strong leadership team, the NHHMC team members are deeply rooted in the Lake Norman community.

“My career is a chief nursing officer, but my calling is to develop people,” said King. “As a team, we are extremely present in our local community. Whether that is with Leadership Lake Norman, the EDC, Women in Business, Rotary or the Chamber we have team members present and involved.”

The mission of Novant Health is to care for one person at a time in the areas we serve as well as connect with the people in the community and provide remarkable care – no matter what level of care is needed. When Lake Norman experiences growth, Novant Health does too. With the mission in mind, Novant works to ensure they are doing what’s necessary to keep the community and local workforce healthy.

"“It is in our best interest as the sole healthcare provider in Huntersville to be very connected with our workforce,” said King. “From a wellness and healing perspective, it is in our mission to be available to our community when it needs us, one person at a time. With economic growth, we know that we can grow stronger from an employment perspective and are able to provide a good and healthy workforce for the team members in our area.”"
