Lake Norman Economic Development Introduces New Workforce Initiative

by Lake Norman Economic Development

Lake Norman Economic Development launched AscendLKN, a workforce campaign focused on educating the Lake Norman community on various career pathways.

“This will be an ongoing campaign with phase one focusing on Advanced Manufacturing,” said Executive Director Ryan McDaniels. “Our goal is to educate our community on they ways they can ‘ascend’ within the Advanced Manufacturing pathway, right here in Lake Norman.”

The website, is a starting point for the community to learn more about Advanced Manufacturing and the future of this vocation in the Charlotte region.

“Throughout the site we encourage visitors to utilize the resources from our community partners – Charlotte Works and Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools,” said Economic Development Coordinator Haley Frazier. “By utilizing these resources, people will have a better understanding of where they can start in an Advanced Manufacturing career with varying education levels.”

In addition to industry specific resources, the site lists current manufacturers hiring in the Lake Norman region and provides easy access to apply for those jobs.

“A resource like AscendLKN has been a long time in the making and I personally am excited to watch it grow,” said LNED Board Chair Andy Myers. “This has definitely been a group effort – one that could not have been done without the support of the LNED Board of Directors as well as community partners, Charlotte Works and CharlotteMecklenburg School.”
