Summit Coffee to open first franchise location in Huntersville this spring
Summit Coffee Co.’s first franchise location will open in Huntersville this spring. The cafe — the seventh for Summit — will be located in Birkdale Landing, along NC Highway 73.
Brian Kiley, Michael Rock and Bill Whittington will own that roughly 1,600-square-foot venture, which is slated to open in May. The space’s design includes indoor and outdoor seating, with plans for live entertainment as well.
Summit CEO Brian Helfrich says the proximity to residential and other strong concepts made that site a fit. Announced tenants for the project include Inizio Pizza, First Watch and Shake Shack.
“We’ve been eyeing this Birkdale Landing spot for more than a year,” he says.
That location is the latest for Davidson-based Summit. It currently operates two stores in Davidson, one in Charlotte’s NoDa neighborhood, plus two in Asheville and one in Chapel Hill.
An eighth, soon-to-be-announced location is expected to open this spring near Charlotte’s uptown.
Summit, which got its start in Davidson in 1998, is focused on Charlotte, Asheville and Chapel Hill for growth over the next 12 months. It intends to open 15-plus units in those markets by the end of 2021.
