Pinnacle Financial expanding local footprint with Huntersville office

by

Pinnacle Financial Partners Inc. (NASDAQ: PNFP) is close to opening its next office in the Charlotte area.

Nashville, Tennessee-based Pinnacle is leasing a 5,000-square-foot space at 16633 Birkdale Commons Parkway in Huntersville. It will be a full-service location that can handle deposits and cash transactions. The office will house eight to 10 employees in personal, small business and commercial banking, with room to grow, bank spokesman Joe Bass said.

The office will open in the fourth quarter, potentially in early December.

"We know that Huntersville continues to grow. It's an attractive community for families and for business owners," said Katie Elder, Pinnacle's area manager for client services in southern North Carolina. "With the branch network that we currently have, I think it's just a natural complement to the locations we have."

Bethany Welch, formerly an area retail manager for First Bank at Lake Norman, was hired to lead the Huntersville office.

Pinnacle already has a loan production office at 16810 Kenton Drive in Huntersville. A few of those employees are moving to the new office. The Kenton Drive space will be used for wealth management services. The bank recently hired four employees to be based there. Three will work for Pinnacle Asset Management, with the fourth serving as a financial adviser for personal and small business clients. All have ties to Wells Fargo & Co. (NYSE: WFC) or the local predecessor Wachovia Corp.

Elder said Pinnacle saw the need to add full-service operations years ago after opening that loan production office. She said the bank is also eyeing south of Ballantyne for expansion. Pinnacle likes to have office locations in parts of the market where its employees have connections, she said.

Pinnacle's new Huntersville space is part of the growing Birkdale Landing retail and office development across from Birkdale Village. Other tenants include Shake Shack, First Watch and Summit Coffee, among others, as CBJ reported earlier this year. Construction on Birkdale Landing began in fall 2019. Fairway Investments of Alabama is developing that site.
