Lake Norman Economic Development was awarded the Cross- Community Collaboration award by the Centralina Regional Council for its workforce development initiatives. When it comes to workforce development, success only comes when there is collaboration.
“When I joined LNED back in June of 2021, I was able to hit the ground running in my workforce development role because the foundation and relationships were already there,” said LNED Workforce Development Manager Elizabeth Underwood. “I quickly learned that the only way my events would be successful, is if our organization collaborated with all possible community partners.”
Two recent events by LNED that showcased strong collaboration include virtual speed networking and its Journey 360 event. The partnership for each of these events includes: the Lake Norman Chamber of Commerce, the Lake Norman Education Collaborative, Hough High School, Hopewell High School and North Mecklenburg High School. It also included collaborations with participating businesses as well as the local municipalities.
“All the partners involved in both speed networking and Journey 360 were not only impressive, but impactful,” said Town of Huntersville Mayor and Co-Chair of Lake Norman Education Collaborative, Melinda Bales. “Winning this award, is a true testament to the hard work that the team at Lake Norman Economic Development and the Education Collaborative have put into the local workforce.”
